MB based on Skippers Lane, Middlesbrough - local hardware and decor showroom - has chosen oncology ward 14, which looks after cancer patients at James Cook as their first official charity partner.
Enthusiastic workers at MB are aiming to raise £5,000 for the ward and they are off to a flying start raising £3,000 already with a series of fundraising events including staff taking part in marathons, abseiling from the Transporter Bridge and sky diving
MB has a full calendar of events taking place throughout the year to help reach the target.
Mike Greenup, managing director said: “Ward 14 is close to the hearts of many people at MB. It has supported friends, colleagues and family through some of the most difficult parts of their lives. We are delighted to choose this vital service as our charity of the year as a way to give something back.
“I felt privileged to meet the staff and patients on ward 14. It was very humbling to see the difference our fundraising can make to patients. Everyone does an amazing job and we were left in awe of all they do.”
