Boro fans were heard signing Ali Brownlee's name from the away end at the John Smith's Stadium, in support of the BBC Tees commentator who has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
Middlesbrough FC fans showed their support to Ali Brownlee during this afternoon's match with Huddersfield Town.
The BBC Tees commentator and broadcaster was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this week.
The news stunned Teesside, and it took only five minutes before the 3,800 travelling Boro fans belted out 'There's only one Ali Brownlee', and 'Ali Brownlee - he's one of our own' from the away section of the John Smith's Stadium.
BBC Tees released a statement on their Facebook earlier this week confirming the news.
"Ali has been diagnosed with cancer of the lower bowel and starts his treatment very soon," the statement said.
“Ali won’t be on BBC Tees for a while, but we know our listeners will join us in wishing him well with his treatment, and welcoming him back whenever he is able to return."
